Call for Doctoral Symposium

Objective

The doctoral symposium welcomes submissions from doctoral candidates working in the field of distributed and event-based computing. The doctoral symposium allows for discussing and obtaining feedback on preliminary research work from experienced researchers.

This year's doctoral symposium will be co-located with the DEBS 2019 Summer School on Monday June 24, 2019. Please, find more details here.

Important Dates

  • Extended abstract submission April 22nd May 3rd, 2019
  • Date of notification May 9th May 12th, 2019
  • Camera ready deadline May 21st May 18th, 2019
  • Conference June 24-28th, 2019
  • Submissions

The submission consists of a (singly authored) extended abstract of at most 4 pages, including:

  • A clear description of the problem being addressed and what makes that problem interesting and relevant such that it warrants scientific research.
  • A brief description of what others have been doing in the field.
  • A hint of a possible solution and the path chosen how to get to that solution (i.e., the chosen research methodology).
  • Submitted abstracts are required to adhere to the two column “sigconf” ACM conference proceeding style. Templates and examples in LaTeX and various versions of Microsoft Word are available for download from the 2017 ACM Master Article Template page. The abstracts can be submitted Via EasyChair (PDF files only). For student authors, the submission should also include a short statement from the advisor that certifies the status of PhD student and approves the submitted extended abstract.

We encourage submissions from students and researchers. Authors, whose submissions are accepted, will have the opportunity to present their work during the summer school.
